Kagumo Old Boys Association Supports Needy Students through School Fee Sponsorship
At the beginning of this year (2024), the Kagumo Old Boys Association (KOBA) took a significant step in ensuring that no student who had been granted admission to join Kagumo Boys High School was left behind due to financial constraints. Recognizing the barriers that many students face in accessing education, KOBA committed to sponsoring the school fees for needy students to facilitate their smooth transition into Kagumo Boys High School.
Ensuring Equal Access to Education
Driven by a strong sense of community and the desire to shape the future of young boys, KOBA’s sponsorship initiative aimed to remove the financial hurdles that prevent deserving students from joining the school. Through generous contributions from its members, KOBA ensured that all selected students were able to report to school without the fear of not being able to afford the fees.
Professor Maina Muchara, Chairman of KOBA, emphasized the importance of this initiative:“Our primary goal is to ensure that every talented student has the opportunity to receive quality education. No student should miss out on their educational dreams due to financial limitations. This initiative is a testament to the commitment of our members in giving back to the school and ensuring its future,” he said.
Supporting Both New and Continuing Students
In addition to sponsoring students joining the school, KOBA also addressed the needs of those with existing fee balances. This was critical in ensuring that no student was forced to leave school midway due to financial difficulties. The support provided by the old boys not only helped these students clear their fee arrears but also boosted their morale, enabling them to focus on their studies without any distractions.
Dr. Dan Gikonyo, lead cardiologist at Karen Hospital and a key supporter of KOBA’s initiatives, praised the efforts:
“The sponsorship program by KOBA is a vital investment in the future of these young boys. Education is the key to unlocking opportunities, and by removing the financial barriers, we are empowering them to succeed academically and in life,” he said.
KOBA’s sponsorship program is a proactive step towards ensuring that education remains accessible to all. The association remains dedicated to supporting the school and its students in any way possible, working towards a brighter future for Kagumo Boys High School.
