BOARD MEMBERS
MESSSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN, KOBA BOARD TRUSTEES
- Dr. Dan K. Gikonyo
The Trustees of Kagumo Old Boys Association (KOBA), is a body established under Article 11 of the 2013 Constitution and Rules of KOBA. The article says in (1) that “all land, buildings and other immovable, movable and liquid assets of the Association shall be registered in the name of the Trustee of the Association who will be appointed from non-members of the EC in a General Meeting on recommendation of the EC and, any member of the Association,..”. In (4), the article further states that “To enhance transparency, the EC may open and manage bank accounts incorporating the trustees, for special funds such as funds intended for a particular project. The signatories of such account will be the Chairman of the Trustees plus two other members, and Hon Chairman and Hon Treasurer of KOBA with both Chairmen being mandatory signatories”
It is five years now since the 2013, KOBA Constitution was promulgated, and the Board of Trustees established. I can proudly report that the five years have been successful, given what we as Trustees have played our role of safe guarding the assets of the Association perfectly. A project account was opened at the Cooperative Bank of which I am a mandatory signatory. For every coin donated by our great old boys, the Trustees have seen that value for money is achieved. In the last five years, more than 10 million shillings have been received from the old boys with exceptional work done.
This open and transparent management has been made possible by our able team of the KOBA Executive Committee led by our devoted chairman Prof Maina Muchara. The committee members led by the Chairman have had to travel on numerous occasions without any payment from Nairobi to Kagumo to supervise the projects that the old boys have sponsored. With the unwavering support of my fellow members of the Board of Trustees Mr. Francis G. Muhindi and Bernard K. Ngari we were able to sensitize more Old Boys to participate in the KOBA activities. I have known these two gentlemen since our school days at Kagumo as members of the Christian Union. It shows how school friendship can be carried forward and still work together to the betterment of mankind. The other member, the Cabinet Secretary Mr. James W. Macharia despite having a very busy portfolio has always been at hand to assist.
Our goal is to leave a strong Association, which is well funded to be able to assist our beloved school in all ways possible. Please look forward to more activities in the coming years. I also want to appeal to all the Old Boys out there to come on board and be part of this dream.
My special thanks go to the Chairman for leading in transparency and openness in the management of the affairs of the Association. This has made our work as Trustees easy and enjoyable. It has also encouraged more and more old boys to join in as the confidence and trust has tremendously increased.
I have no doubt in my mind that given another chance, most of us would still choose this great school.
To those currently studying, you are laying the foundation as the future members of the Alumni. Work hard and let us see the best national exams results from you this year and beyond.
